RE: FAQ’s on the new ordinance procedure (see attached copy of the full ordinance for reference)
1.- What will the effective date of the alarm ordinance be?
The effective date of the Ordinance was March 11, 2003. We are requiring that all alarm users be
Registered by July 1, 2003. We will not begin the fining Process until October 1, 2003 so that we have a chance to offer the community educational and awareness programs.
2.- When do I have to start using the CP-01 Control Equipment?
Starting July 1, 2003
3.- Do I have to register my customers? If yes, when do I have to complete this?
Yes, it will be up to the Contractors to ensure that their customers receive a copy of the registration. The Lee County Sheriff's Office will furnish the applications and envelopes to be sent out to the customers that will be due by July 1, 2003.
4.- Do I have to provide a customer list? If yes when does this have to be done?
Yes, you will have to provide us with a copy of your customer database. We will email each company a spreadsheet to be used and it can be emailed back or sent back on a CD. The list will be due as soon as possible, but no later than June 6, 2003. If there are any problems you can contact the Alarm Reduction Unit for help (239) 477-1243
5.- Who mails the registration forms to the alarm users? Are they ready to be mailed yet?
The company will be responsible to mail the applications for this year only, after that the Lee County Sheriff's Office Alarm Reduction Unit will mail them out. The only exception is on new installations, it will be the responsibility of the installing company to provide an application to the New Alarm User. The applications will be ready by May 12, 2003.
6.- Do I have to register my company?
Yes, every company that is doing business in Unincorporated Lee County, Bonita Springs, or the Town of Fort Myers Beach must register with the Lee County Sheriff's Alarm Reduction Unit.
7.- Does the central station I use also have to register if I'm registered?
Yes, the contractor and the monitoring company should register with us.
